Black & White Photo Challenge

When I posted some black and white photos, several people told me how much they liked black and white, which, in turn, gave me the idea to issue this challenge. Again, I got carried away with using what I learned in the recent Paint Shop Pro X2 lessons by adding masks, edges, and frames. Even though I jpg optimized, adding those extra elements makes for fairly large files and possible slow downloads.

Check comments to get the addresses for those that are participating in this challenge. Since I'm posting first, I haven't seen any photos but can hardly wait to see the black and whites in this challenge.

One of the roses hubby gave me for my birthday.

The tractor. lol

Until next time, God bless.

Hello Lynn I am AL. I learned about your blog through SQ. Some people still prefer black and while photos they looked very classic and composed. I didn't have any formal lessons on photography but I think or maybe I have a little vision for it. B&W photos are great! I hope to see more of it.:)

Those are GREAT! I love the texture of the rose. It looks like fabric! And the tractor made me smile, LOL. Beautiful special effects. Wish I knew how to do those kind of tricks, but eventually, I'll get there!

My B&W photos are posted at

The black and white makes your rose look like silk. Beautiful!

I love black and white too. It changes the character of the photo. I'll have to try it myself! I used to spend hours and hours in the old darkroom printing up black and white photos. Thanks for your comment! I think those leaves are just a bush. I actually have tons of poison ivy elsewhere, unfortunately!

Karen, I'm glad to hear it is not poison ivy.

As I said, I've never really seen poison ivy and can only reply upon pictures of it. But after doing some research before tearing into some stuff around here, I just had to say something in case that vine in your photo was it.

Sorry, I put my link on the original challenge post.

My pictures were posted earlier today at www.photogra-me.blogspot.com

I have several B&W shots - I just had a hard time narrowing it down.
