I do not possess the words to express my gratitude and thanks to the extraordinary men and women who gave their lives for our country. May I never forget the sacrifice and always remember that if were not for them, this country would not exist in its present form.

I recently found some photos that belonged to my husband's grandfather. On the back was written "Decoration Day, Indianapolis 1948" I had to look it up to find out that it is now Memorial Day.

I did not remember that Memorial Day was once Decoration Day or that it was changed in 1971. What was I doing in 1971? lol Oh, I remember.
I remember calling the holiday decoration day. My father and 5 uncles served in WWII so we always honor this day. In fact I am named after my uncle RAY that died during a battle overseas. I still get goose bumps to this day when I hear our National Anthem or Taps. I wish more young people really understood the sacrifices made for them. This was a good post. RAE
WW I and II were the big ones. We watch a lot of historical WW II programs. I am always awed at their bravery and courage. I thank your father and uncles for their service.
