After A Trip To The Vet

Yesterday was booster shot day. Each dog was weighed, each received four booster shots, one of which was the rattlesnake booster vaccine, and both had a heart worm blood test -- everything is fine, no heart worms. Heart worm prevention pills work, thank goodness.

Give Luc treats while getting shots, etc., and there is no problem. He loves everyone at the vet's, including the shot lady. No one is safe from or escapes his exuberant greetings before, during or after treatments. However, he doesn't know it but his daily ration of food is to be reduced to three cups from four cups and treats are to be carrots instead of puppy treat biscuits. He is on a diet until he loses at least five pounds and it should be nine. I handle Luc at the vet's.

Above, Maggie is recovering from her visit to the vet's terror chambers. Maggie does not love anyone at the vet's. She may have remember last year's visit because she was very hesitant to go into the treatment room -- hubby had to give her a nudge to get her to go in. Hubby tells me that one of the girls held her head between her legs to keep from getting bitten while the other one was administering the shots. The vet's office was filled with her doggie yelps and screams. I suspect next year will be much more difficult getting her into the room. She still has not eaten and it has been 24 hours since the vet visit.

Until next time, God bless.

Great pictures. My little shih tzu hates the vet, it is a torture chamber to her as well. I sympathize.

Maggie thinks I'm torturing her when I put the liquid flea and tick stuff down her back. :D

Hubby and I are giving her extra attention.

We just had our annual appt. 2 weeks ago. Whining, crying and carrying on - that was hubby. He hates to go to with me. Piper does fine. Jumps on the scale, waits for the doc, and holds his paws up for his pedicure clipping. Sometimes gives the doc a little sneer when he does that backdoor thermometer thing before the shots. I would too though.

Lol.......hubby! Piper sounds like a great dog. Of course, I'm extra partial to Labs.

They had a new girl to take the thermometer; I had to give her instructions as to how that is done with Luc. She wanted him standing; hmm, no, he lays down and I feed treats.

One of the neat things about being older is the total freedom of asserting yourself and the younger ones sort of back down because of "your" age. lol

Now the question remains if the assertion freedom is worth the creaky joints, the extra weight that does not come off short of eating no more than 800 calories a week, the diminished eyesight, and etc. What do you think? heh heh heh

Love the doggies...I am amazed that that doggie needs to go on a diet...she is a lot lot thinner than my labrador was...!!

thanks for your visit to my Skywatch photos from Inwood, NYC today.

Luc doesn't look fat! Handsome animal! And put Maggie up on the couch with you and hand feed her some goodies...She thinks she was being punished...Happy weekend sweetie!

Donna, Luc weighs 88-89 pounds; the vet would like for him not weigh over 80. It will be hard enough getting him down to 83-84.

Labs think they are on starvation diets no matter how much they eat and have perfected their begging skills to a professional level. Hubby falls for it.

Annie, the Skywatch photos are great.

My husband falls for Trixies begging. She's an over weight, spoilt beagle needing to lose a few extra pounds herself. She didn't like the vet either, although Susie, my part lab thought it was just great - she loved the extra attention!
Hope Maggie cheers up soon!

It was always tramatic for my pooch to go to the vet. He cut his paw badly when he was a pup and had to get painful stitches. So he always hated the vet after that.

Donna, isn't it amazing how long a memory a dog can have? Poor little pooch.

Butterfly, Luc has discovered his rations are cut. He laid down by his bowl after he finished eating and stared at me, like surely you've made a mistake. Gave him a few extra carrot bites.

Poor babies, my kitty (no doggies)hates the vet but not as much as she hates her flea treatment behind the head. Four paws, all claws.

Kitty's can be demons. We had one for 18 years so I know what you are saying.
