I Voted Today

I voted today; did you?  We voted in the late afternoon.  I had a "procedure" this morning, and it took a little recovery time before I was ready to go to the polls.  We've had early voting for a week or ten days, but we do not take advantage of it.

Our precinct polling place.  I would have taken more photos, but hubby was in tow.  He is not understanding when it comes to waiting around while I take pictures.

Here's the proof that we made it.  :D

Until next time, God bless.

I voted today about 9 a.m. I worked as a poll worker at my precinct too.

There was a young man who came in at 5:35 p.m. [our polls close at 6 p.m.]. He had moved two years ago from another precinct in the city and although he changed his address with the Post Office, he never filed the form with the Board of Elections. Oh when he got his new drivers license last spring, he never gave them his new address. The address he was using was his Mom's house.

Connie in the other precinct spent until 6:25 p.m. working out the problem so he could vote. There was literally ten workers waiting for him to finish.

When he had finished voting he asked me for a sticker to show he voted. I said we didn't get any of those this year. He said some of the guys at work got them from other places. I said I'm sorry we didn't have any, we looked. I offered to make him a affidavit for his work or school using a form we have. No, that wouldn't do. "I want a sticker!!!" Finally I looked him in the eye and said, "We do not have the stickers and you need to go on home as we have all been here since 5:15 a.m. and would like to go home. He saw I was getting my "mom" up and left with a smile. I figure he'll tell his friends he messed with a poll worker.

I'm glad this election is over and I can sleep late tomorrow.

Good for you, Charlene!!

I haven't worked the polls for a few years since the Election Judge, a friend, got sick. I really enjoyed doing it. I may just put my name in as a volunteer the next time around.

Here in Washington state we vote by mail. I miss going to the polls like I did in Colorado. Charlene's comment was both interesting and sad, that they spent so much time helping the guy and all he could say is he wanted a sticker! What a spoiled brat.

Yes, we voted. The one person we were trying to oust still got elected....

Hope your procedure went okay!
