Around Austin

It is so seldom that I go to downtown Austin but took advantage of being there by taking some photos when walking back from the Capitol to where we parked the car.

This building caught my attention when I realized that one corner is unsupported.

I love the architectural details on old churches.

Isn't this entryway exquisite?

This window has my exquisite rating.

Until next time, God bless.

That building is, well, strange. I wonder why they did that.

But the church! I had no idea that Austin had such a lovely church. I've never been there, because my family lives in the Ft. Worth/Dallas area, and when I visit, I spend most of my time with them inside, and not looking around. I've certainly seen downtown Dallas and now I wonder if they also have lovely churches like this that I've missed.

DJ, there is a parking garage under the building since it located so close to the Capitol where parking space is at a premium. It is a strange building, isn't it.

AL, I've been thinking about making a special trip into Austin one of these days to search out the old churches. They have the best architecture.

That is some fantastic architecture and you captured them well. The first building is amazing. How in the world does it keep from collapsing?

BTW- Thanks for your comments on my blog. I appreciate your honesty. It would be a dull world if we had the same opinion. I respect that. It is only when people take it a step further and try to be mean and vindictive that I get upset.

Very interesting design on the first building and the reflection of the other building and the sky is striking.

I love the mix of old and new in your photos. I definitely have to agree with you on the church window, excellent.

Great photos Lynn.

We we drove down to Austin a few months ago I took pictures of that cool building and this church it's called Saint Mary's Cathedral.
Your pictures are really nice and make me want to go back again, but now it's too far. :-(
Thank goodness for pictures.

What a beautiful church! They don't make them like that anymore!
