Brenda's Photo Challenge

The Brenda's Photo Challenge theme for this week is Fruit/Macro.

I photographed these at Central Market along with the photos below. I was just getting started when a little guy came over to me to inform that NO photos were allowed. :D I guess that is prevent competitors from duplicating displays or prices. No matter, I told him the purpose but also asked if he wanted me to delete the ones I already had taken. Fortunately, he said, "No."

These are Maradol papayas from Mexico. Aren't they unusual? I've had papaya but it has always been sliced. Maybe all papaya look like these when cut. Anyone know?

Central Market has these large replicas of fruit and veggies as a barrier between the walkway and parking area. Central Market is H.E.B.'s answer to Whole Foods. Did you know that Whole Foods got its start in Austin?

Central Market is much more accessible for me than Whole Foods. The star Whole Foods store in Austin is a horror to get in and out of the parking area. I do not know how the customer service is at Whole Foods but Central Market's is top notch. When I was at a disadvantage with a cracked ankle before Christmas, one of the CM employees offered to do my shopping list. I was using a riding cart. The aisles were packed and next to impossible to shop while walking much less in a riding cart. I was very, very appreciative for the offer. In addition, hubby was with me and he would rather crawl over broken glass than shop. Note to self, do not ever break or hurt one's feet, ankles, or legs before Christmas.

Hop over to Brenda's to see more photos in the challenge.

Until next time, God bless.

All the papayas I have ever had look like that in the middle. I wonder why would anyone not want you to take pictures of the fruit? That is just weird. Nice new blog background, Lynn, you come up with some gems.

I agree the papayas are unusual. I have never seen one before. Being stuck here in the middle of the country we don't get to see exotic type fruits unless they are canned or prepackaged.

If only he knew that his fruits will be seen all over the world FREE!! ^_^ Anyhow, yes papaya do look like that when sliced. I am from the Philippines and we have several kinds and sizes of papaya. My favorite is the smallest one because it is too sweet. And if you like to plant a papaya in your backyard you just take of the black seeds and dry it up then plant it will grow fast. Of course this plant is for tropical countries (I guess).
One thing that papaya can do is...( I hope I will not be censored here hehe)...papaya is un-aprodisiac fruit, compare to oyster hehe ^_^. I think I said a lot of information hehe. Thanks! Happy weekend!

Great pics! I wish we had a large market in our area... we only have a small farmers market in the summer.

I love them! What's up with stores being so fussy about pictures lately? Maybe I'm not of the proper mind set to see what they think we're doing. Those big display fruits are very cool.

Great job! I especially like the first one, with the signs, LOL! Dang that fella for telling you not to take pictures!

Wish we had those store here. Guess they haven't figured out yet how civilized we can be in east Tennessee.

Wow, those papayas look so good! I had no idea they looked like that. I've only had them as juice or pre-chopped in fruit salad. Great pictures!

Glad you got the shots...sometimes you just have to be VERY quick! I really like the giant fruit...so much cuter than metal posts and chains! Nice post!

Yummy photos! Yep, Central Market has a no photography policy and they catch you real quick. Ask me how I know...I tried to take a photo there of daughter shopping for something. We were told pronto to cease.

I absolutely loved your challenge photos! Wish I lived in a place where we had a market like that. Here in southeastern Kansas, to go anywhere, even Wal Mart is at least 30 miles away! I especially loved the blood orange display- such yummy fruit, too! God Bless!!!

Love the fruits in the parking area, that would really add some color to the place. The display of oranges looks great and so do the papayas.

Many of the chain stores have very strict policies against photos inside the store. There is a tremendous amount of competition between the chains. When I worked for manufactures I would sometimes run into a store manager in a different chain spying on his competition. Big manufacturing companies are equally concerned about their competition. I had to sign a confidentiality agreement before being hired. I don't even try to take photos inside stores.
