Health Care
I have purposely stayed away from anything political not because I am unaware and uninformed; however, from everything I've read this is the most odious bill that will affect your health care options, your parents health care options, your children's , grandchildren, etc. If you think a single-payer, government run health care is the answer, I suggest you do some serious Internet research into Canada's, Great Britain's, and other European countries health care. Under Gt. Britain's, 53 is considered too old to have certain medical procedures.
This to me is the most serious problem we have facing this country and its future and future generations, not climate change or whatever "crisis" is being touted from Washington DC. There are reviews of this health care bill on the net that list page numbers and sections outlining the rules and regulations under which the entire US with the exception of the Congress and federal employees will have for health care.
Research, research and decide for yourself. If you do not want what is offered, let your representatives know immediately.
Until next time, God bless.

I'm still not sure which is worse, letting government control care and costs, or to keep allowing the for profit insurance execs and pharmaceutical giants to continue to decide who will and who won't receive care.
As I said, do an Internet research.
As a caveat, America has the highest cancer survival rate over Gt. Britain, Canada, and the EU. I also have read that Canada does not have neo-natal, or very few; most, if not all, cases are sent to the U.S.
We have excellent coverage through my husband's work and he's a long way from retirement so it's something I haven't thought about. I will take your suggestion and do some research.
The government controls in the HR bill scare the dickens out of me! I am so totally against what they are doing and I'm raising a ruckus with my reps! And I am tired of insurance companies being portrayed as "villians" because rates have increased in the past few years largely because of additional Federal regulations. And NOT ALL insurance companies are for profit! That is a huge lie! My insurance is Blue Cross/Blue Shield of TN and it is non-profit. Insurance costs are based on usage and a surcharge for running the company/filing claims. Also, drug companies have social responsibility programs to provide hugely discounted medicines to financially needy individuals.
I agree with Brenda, but my biggest gripe is that those making the decisions don't have to live by the decisions.
I got my rear chewed by a visitor to a friend's blog. Can you believe it.. she not only spoke anonymously, but she didn't even do it on my blog. There are definitely some heated opinions on this topic and I applaud your bravery and making a statement.
Cindra... sometimes referred to as the "the blonde woman." LOL!
(I came here looking for your "cool" photos... evidently missed the link.)
Obviously, I feel strongly about it; otherwise, I would not have broken my rule to stay out of politics. I am just asking that people investigate on their own since this bill will affect everyone and the generations to come.
However, here are a couple of notes in this bill, excluding some other very disturbing health care rules and regulations:
• Sect. 163, Pg 58-59 beginning at line 5 of HC Bill - Government will have real-time access to individual’s finances & a National ID Health care card will be issued!
• Sect. 163, Pg 59, lines 21-24 of HC Bill—Government will have direct access to your banks accounts for electronic funds transfer
I just retired from a political based job and try to stay as far away from it as possible but it's not good to have your head in the sand, so thanks for the info I'll look into it. I never thought about it much because I have a great coverage from my retirement plan but down the line it could affect me and what's more could affect my brothers and sisters who are not as blessed as I am. That direct access to bank accounts really troubles me.
According to a breakdown that I read, there is direct access which is why I listed the page and section. I am not a lawyer and relied on a law school's opinion.
While we always know how important our health is, it is not until we face a life-threatening disease/accident that we deep down realize JUST how important which is why I've broken the "no politics rule." lol I simply want to urge people to do their own research and take a position based on facts.
FWIW, I always ignored politics until an issue came up that got my attention which, in turn, lead me to keep up with it. I find the subject matter truly detestable; but like you, Daisy,I cannot leave my head in the sand.
God bless you all.
