While on a walk this morning, hubby, Luc and Maggie encountered a skunk. Fortunately for the skunk and for us, hubby was able to get Maggie away before she could grab it and slam the skunk into the ground. We've seen her do it several times.
I'm doing the tomato juice remedy to get rid of the smell. I have another remedy for ridding skunk smells on dogs, but I'm trying the easiest first. It'll be an hour or so before she is completely dry for me to do the nose test. :D At the moment, she thinks she is being severely punished for what she hasn't a clue.
Luc has been skunked a couple of times and seems to make every effort to avoid them. He escaped this morning. Seeing I'm not after him for a bath, he felt like he was safe and could approach me with his ball.
Until next time, God bless.

Aww, poor Maggie. First she smelled like skunk and now she smells like a tomato.
Hopefully that did the trick and she passed the nose test.
Hope the rest of your weekend was more fun.

And I want to live in the country! Yes I still do, skunks and all!
Nope, SQ, I had to go to the second deskunking solution.
The ingredients are peroxide, baking soda, and mild dish washing liquid (Ivory for me). I'm always concerned about getting any solution around their eyes, so the head is not done very well. The head usually gets the impact of Mr. Skunk!
Isn't it funny how you can do something over and over until one time something as obvious as your nose comes to you on how to do it? I used a washcloth to apply the second solution on her head and could get up close to the eyes. Result: Mr. Skunk is no longer evident! :D
You are right, Daisy, living in the country you just roll with it as it comes. lol
Ewwwwww!Hahaaa....Poor thing!! Hope it works!!!hughugs
