Since September 15, 2010, we have had 4 and 3/10 inches of rain and our most dry season - June through September - is just ahead. Instead of winter gray outside to spring green we went straight to late summer brown and high winds since March. I've noticed an increase over the past couple of years but ignored it until I saw the reading: 158/89. Yikes!! Last year I wired about 80 feet of the 4x4 wire panels with about 24 inch chicken wire. Chicken wire is rough on the hands and did not finish wiring the other side because it got too hot. When I hear noise coming from a bathroom window, I know this creature has arrived. A couple of years ago he attacked just about every window in the house for months. The next year he did not attack as many windows as the previous year. This year he only made enough noise for me to know he was back. It's Straight Out of the Camera Sunday again. There are two rules: 1) photo must be taken by you, and 2) no tweaking but cropping is allowed.
My camera was busy when I made a trip to The Natural Gardener this week.

Until next time, God bless.

The material looked like this found at Gardener's Supply.
Any wire fence will do, but this is probably wire used when pouring concrete.

I made a slight error when the 6 yards of a mixture of rose magic and compost was delivered. How did it get in here? No holes in the fencing. Wire is in contact with the ground.
Spots spinach.
The smell test.
Calls for more inspection.
Apparently does not pass the smell test, and it's time to go.
Where did it go? How did it get out -- the garden is enclosed. Camera is to be relocated to face the direction from which the rabbit first was seen.

Let me introduce the newest addition to our homestead. At this juncture we are not sure of the gender, but it was born about a week ago. Its mother hid it out for about five or six days. The mother usually brought her calves up within a day or two; and so when we did not see this calf by Sunday, we became concerned that something was wrong. I have been trying to get this Mantis tiller running for 2 weeks. The tiller has never been easy to start; and after starting, it was no easy feat to keep it running. Even after a trip to the repair shop last year, it was not much better. It would run for a few minutes then die. I did not want to buy another tiller because I knew this Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07393428886240353218noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5950652920990617686.post-10959782615724713522011-02-28T11:57:00.000-06:002011-02-28T11:57:32.732-06:00First PeekIt has been a week since the asparagus were put in the ground. I'm amazed at the growth.
The spears are not harvested the first year after planting the year-old crowns. According to eHow, the spears need to fern out for the roots to grow stronger.
Artichokes are said to be easy to grow.
